Re: Transient Phase Change Solver
Hi guys, i just interfere quickly in your discussion without reading all the previous post. I have a question to Peter Raback: "In the case of molten metal in magnetic field we had to use the NormalSolver since the suggested displacements were not a bijection. Now we have the luxury that the di...

Re: Mesh to Mesh Interpolation
Hello Peter thanks for your answer... i did not connect to the forum since my last question!!! at first, i said that i did not find the tests "nonconformingrestart" but after few minutes of research... i finally found the hithub website and downloaded the test cases... so i need some time ...

Mesh to Mesh Interpolation
MeshInterp.tar.gz Hello everybody I have a question of how to import a data from a previous result (so file.result & mesh A) to mesh B (i want to create a starting file). I read few topics about it: 1 - http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2260&p=6863&hilit=interpolatio...

Re: Solid-liquid phase change
well well... after one night of thinking and few more simulations.... I may have done a mistake!!! i have always defined the "heat capacity" in my "material library" also with the definition of "enthalpy" ... so i guess that the resolution of my heat transfer employed &...

Re: Solid-liquid phase change
Hello Dear Elmer Users, Actually i still have the same question .... i did 3 simulations (heat transfer / welding case) where i want to include the release of latent heat. But before doing this, i wanted to understand how to use the "phase change" option. 1st simulation: no latent heat and...

Re: Interpolation onto reference grid
thank you for you answer Mathias... i'm gonna explore this possibility!
But if anyone has the answer with juha's approach, i'll take it!

Re: Interpolation onto reference grid
Hello dear elmer fellows... i'm ressuscitating (or more familiar "rising from the dead") this thread! I've been away for a while working on other subjects and FEM software but i don't forget elmer! All right, i tried to do what was said in this post but unsuccessfully!!!!! I have a simple ...

Free Surface in 3 dimensions
Hi dudes! I have a new query about the free surface solver. I tried to extend the case "free surface sloshing 2d" to a 3d one. Instead of a square (2d), i defined a cube geometry (0.4m). And unfortunately, it did not work so easily! i applied my free surface on my top surface of my cube an...

Re: Mesh problem - ElmerGrid vs gmsh
Well Well, that is obviously extremely weird!!!! i understood the difference of nodes between the 2 meshes (elmergrid / gmsh). When we specify "element division 1 = 60" in square.grd (elmergrid mesher), it will divide the boundary in 60 segments so we have 61 nodes ... I specified 60 in sq...

Mesh problem - ElmerGrid vs gmsh
Good evening Dear Elmer fella, I hope that someone can fix or explain me my problem. Here it is: i tested the free surface case called "freesurf_sloshing_2d" in the elmer test database. A very interesting one! I slightly modified it. I added the heat equation solver to study the effect of ...
