Re: Partially transparent display?

Answering my own question:

This is what you get when you are new to Elmer and try to solve a structural problem with 2nd order elements with a linear solver. Changing "Equation = Linear elasticity" to "Equation = Nonlinear elasticity" fixed it nicely.

Re: Partially transparent display?

By the way, this beautiful effect does not appear in the preprocessor view in Elmer, only in post.

Re: Partially transparent display?

Thanks for your response.

The mesh was exported from Netgen in Elmer format. I believe I tried the standard .vol output first, but Elmer would not accept it.

Attached are the mesh files output by Netgen, the computer Gods willing.

Thanks again.

Partially transparent display?

Hoepfully this image will come thru. This is a ElmerPost image of a cylinder meshed with 10-node tets prepared by Netgen. As you can see, some of the element faces are transparent and some are opaque. I am wondering if this is a graphics issue, or if it has something to do with the mid-side nodes. T...

Re: SaveBoundaryValues

Answering my own post: This gets me where I want to go (building on raback's answer to the Gradient question, further down the thread): Solver 2 Procedure="SaveData" "SaveScalars" Calculate Loads = True Filename=Results.dat Operator 1=boundary sum Variable 1=Displacement loads 2 ...

SaveBoundaryValues

HI,

I'm trying to use SaveBoundaryValues to save the values of Displacement.Load.2 at Boundary "Fixed" to a file.

Can I perhaps view an example of this code that works, since mine doesn't?

Thanks,

Re: Elmer on 64 bit Windows 7

Thx Peter,

My path is c:\fe_temp so I don't think that's it.

What I find so strange is I can do everything but solve; I even ran the analysis in Ubuntu and then imported the project and all the files to Windows and it still doesn't work!

Thanks for the help.

Elmer on 64 bit Windows 7

Just wondering if there is, or will be, a compiled version of Elmer for 64 bit Windows 7. I was able to load the Nightly Build (which I assume is 32 bit) from just a few days ago and interestingly everything works fine (GUI comes up, Equations, Materials, BC's seem to work) but irritatingly the solv...
