Re: combination of solvers for Shell elements and and solvers for 3D
Shell & solid is the toughest case since the formulation for shells is notoriously different than for solids. With "Shell & solid is the toughest" you mean 'mechanical' problems? For heat and flow equations there is no such drastic difference. And how about magnetics compared to m...

Re: combination of solvers for Shell elements and and solvers for 3D
From your original description you want to solve this problem. Shell elements are not needed, unless you want to calculate responses in the shell wall. If you just want inputs to the fluid than boundary elements are enough, and the shell elements/solver is not needed. problem.PNG Thanks Kevin for y...

Re: combination of solvers for Shell elements and and solvers for 3D
Thanks Rabak, I try to summarize: There is the possibility to combine shell-elements (2D-Faces) and 3D-elements in one simulation. There are until now (only) solvers for mechanics implemented. Is the coupling between shell and bulk not only on the boundary edges of the shell possible but also 'throu...

combination of solvers for Shell elements and and solvers for 3D
Hi, I know that Elmer supports solvers for shell-elements and 'usual' solvers for 3D-domains. Is it possible to combine both sort of solvers in one model? Consider e.g. a model of a cube where the top 'face' or its mesh elements is used for a simulation with shell elements introducing eg. thermal in...

Re: Magnetic field particle dynamics
Dear Carsten, Is it possible to share your model? I would like to simulate something related (see below) and have no starting point until now. Thanks in advance. Dear Peter, I am also interested in the particle solver to simulate positive and negative charges in an air-filled volume under the applic...

And the original FreeCAD file which was used to create the solver output above.

Re: Charged conductor with floating potential
Dear Peter, I get the following 'Warning' in the Solver output if I use 'Potential constant = Logical True'. The computation is done and is also correct as can be seen with the simple benchmark model below, but it is misleading that something is wrong. I think the check for the 'listed keywords' has...

Re: unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'
The idea with the "t" is just to give the user an idea to what the numbering is related to while 1) and 2) really offer new functionality. Nice. New functionality is good. If there is good reason I could take it back. No, there is no reason to take it back. Thanks for clarification. So we...

Re: unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'
I would need to know if it was changed on purpose and if it will change again (or often). This is important because the result files are currently read automatically into FreeCAD (see https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=42732). If it was on purpose and it stays this way then I woul...

unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'
Hello, Am I right that until no (or several month ago) the specification of "Output File Name = File "case"" in the following .sif file produced result files like "case_0001.vtu" but now I get a result file called "case_t0001.vtu". Was this changed or did I ch...
