Re: Turbulent Flow Simulations with Elmer - A Request
Hi Peter, Dmitry, Thanks Peter for actively looking into this, really appreciate! If Elmer already had an implementation of FCT, I think the task would be even easier. In that case, we could seperate k and epsilon parts into two solvers (as opposed to a single KE solver with 2 degrees of freedom) an...

Re: Turbulent Flow Simulations with Elmer - A Request
Hi Peter, Many thanks for your kind reply. Fascinating and indeed heartening to know that you could allocate some time and resources to tackle this vexed issue. Looks like the k-epsilon formulation in Elmer is quite old. Perhaps you have seen this paper already - here are the details of the numerica...

Turbulent Flow Simulations with Elmer - A Request
Hi Peter, The difficulty of simulating turbulent flows with Elmer has been discussed in these forums many times in the past. I am also aware that most of Elmer development happens through funded projects and there has been little interest in this area. However I would still want to rake up this issu...

Re: Elmersolver crashes when Porous Media is activated
Thanks very much for your effort, Anil. It should then work with my Elmer-8.3 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Re: Elmersolver crashes when Porous Media is activated
Hi Anil, Thanks for your efforts! As I said before, this crash comes only with a newly compiled Elmer (v8.3, cmake) on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I need to upgrade to 18.04 LTS anyway - so I will see if this problem still persists with the latest LTS version. By the way, I assume your helpful instructions on...

Re: ElmerSolver fails with warning "Monotone curves only applicable to cubic splines!"
Hi Peter, With direct solver, I am getting NaN error at the same point where the IterSolve was found to diverge. Here is the output: ELMER SOLVER (v 8.3) STARTED AT: 2018/08/06 15:30:24 ParCommInit: Initialize #PEs: 1 MAIN: MAIN: ============================================================= MAIN: El...

Hi Peter,
Here is a minimal version of my case. Also included is the solver dump (file 'log').

Re: ElmerSolver fails with warning "Monotone curves only applicable to cubic splines!"
Hi Peter, Actually all the heat fluxes are going out of the domain, so the heat equation is probably not getting non-physical. If the linear solver starts and developing divergence on the way, it is normal divergence, which I can understand. In this case, something is not right as you said, as the f...

Re: Elmersolver crashes when Porous Media is activated
Hi Peter, The case crashed with a finite resistance at first, so I put a zero resistance just to see if it makes any difference. This should make no difference to the NS but still it crashed. However the crash is occurring only on my newly compiled version (Elmer-8.3, using cmake) on Ubuntu 16.04 LT...
