WARNING::WriteVtuFile:Are there really no scalars or vectors

Hi Elmerteam I'm trying an Elmer build we have compiled with MUMPS & HYPER on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and I'm getting some problems with the Resultsoutput solver sometimes not writing the output vtu files correctly (the .pvtu file is sometimes incorrect) and wondered if this could be a compilation prob...

Navier stokes boundary condition

Hi Elmer users I'm doing a thermal heat problem and would like to have a boundary condition on the inlet which 1) defines a fully developed velocity profile over the inlet, and 2) varies the above for different timesteps in a scanning simulation. I know how to do each individually but can not work o...

Re: saveline with variable coordinates

Hi Peter,
Works like a charm, thanks very much.
Best regards

saveline with variable coordinates

Hi All, I would like to use the Procedure = "SaveData" "SaveLine" to output the temperature along a surface, now the geometry is parameterised and the coordinates of the line need to be changed as the geometry changes. I define 2 variables which are composed of some other paramet...

Re: Scanning simulation to aid convergence

Hi Peter, I eventually had success when I reduced Nonlinear System Relaxation Factor from 1.0 to 0.75 but time step 6 took a long time to converge, this time step was the only one that wouldn't converge with the "Nonlinear System Relaxation Factor=1.0" is there a way of changing this value...

Re: Scanning simulation to aid convergence

Hi Peter, Although I'm doing a coupled CFD & thermal problem, at this moment my fluid properties are temperature independent so the temperature field in the fluid cannot change the flow, it is the Navier-Stokes solver which is having difficulties converging & not the heat solver, once I get ...

Re: Scanning simulation to aid convergence

HI Peter, The table should be plain numbers you cannot hide operations there in. Thank you this solved the problem, if I define $visc=5e-3 at the top of the sif file then I can do this & it works but time step 3 will still not converge. Material 1 Name = "fluid properties" ! try to get...

Scanning simulation to aid convergence

Hi Elmer team In a scanning CFD+thermal simulation using the BiCGStabl iterative solver and ILU1 preconditioner is the following permitted in the material section? Material 1 Name = "fluid properties" ! try to get convergence at inlet velocity v_in by starting off with high viscosity &...

elmergrid to produce vtu file from partitioned mesh

Hi Elmer team, when I have the serial mesh files mesh.boundary mesh.elements etc I can use elmergrid to produce a vtu file of the mesh using elmergrid 2 5 mesh now for example if I partition the mesh into 8 parts & produce a directory partition.8 is it possible to produce a vtu file of this part...
