problem with displacement BCs
Hi to all. I am modelling a mechanical piece and have a problem with imposing boundary conditions. I need a face to move along one direction only and when I create a BC like "Displacement 3 = 0" I find, when viewing the postprocessor, that elmer has set all the three displacements equal ze...

Re: Problem with boundary condition
Excuse me, what i meant was to allow movement in only one way, like x<0.
Thanks
Thanks

Problem with boundary condition
Hi to all
I am solving an elastic problem which has a boundary able to deform in one direction only. I wonder if there's a way to tell elmer to restrict the boundary in that way. Thanks.

Re: buckling of a beam
I think I managed to solve it by changing the solving method, using a direct method instead of an iterative one. My problem now is that I don't know how to read the results. The solver gives me a vector and a scalar. I think one of these should be the factor I have to multiply the applied load by to...

buckling of a beam
Hi to all, I am trying to solve the buckling of a beam, id est, to get the values of the force that would make the system unstable. I meshed the beam with Gmsh with second order elements. The issue is I can't make it work. The model never conveges. I don't know what I am doing badly. I paste here my...

Conditional Boundary Condition
Hi, I'm trying to solve an elastic problem and need to impose a BC that depends on the position. I have an issue with the MATC syntax. I want to tell elmer to impose a displacement over a surface if the x-position is larger than... and smaller than... and can't find the exact syntax for that. I've l...

Elastic-Plastic Model
Hi, i want to know how to create an elastic-plastic model, because i have to model a dent in a tube.
Thanks

Re: Natural convection problem
Thank you Peter, I really didn't find in the tutorial, a case using natural convection with variable density. I'll prove with the "flow bodyforce".
Thanks again

Re: Natural convection problem
Janlietaer, thanks, but I proved it and I lost convergence. My model seems to work ok, but the results shows like the solvers works separated, I noticed that the velocity in my boundary got into the mesh only for viscosity, and the thermal solution is only diffusive. Porbably I'm making a mistake, b...

Natural convection problem
Hi, I'm modelling something like a heater, it's a rectangle, one of its boundaries have imposed temperature and only a very little velocity (just for destabilize), the others have heat flux zero and no slip wall. The problem is that I have no convection, even in long times. Anyone can help me please...
