Re: Boundary condition

You may also consider setting initial conditions, heat equation, temperature, for each body otherwise each body starts at 0.

Re: Boundary condition

Transient should have number of time step intervals and time step sizes set. For example if you want to run the simulation for 30 seconds at a time step of .5 seconds each. Then Time Step Size = 0.5, and Time Step Intervals = 60.

60 steps at 0.5 seconds each = 30 seconds

Re: Boundary condition

You are doing steady state. If the boundaries do not radiate or do not radiate fast enough then eventually everything would get to constant temperature. Might try doing it in a transient to see how the heat conducts in the solids.

Re: Boundary condition

I have read if you use the diffuse gray you have to check the open radiation boundary. You could try the idealized model as well.

Re: Solving solid mechanics problems with material plasticity

Calculix is an excellent open source solver for material plasticity. It uses the ABAQUS input deck format. I wrote a program to convert a Salome unv file into a calculix input file that converts groups to nsets and elsets. nsets and elsets allow you to easily apply boundary conditions and materials....

Re: von karman instability

Would have to see the mesh files and sif. Also you could install the Elmer virtual machine or the CAElinux iso to see if you get the same results. Both come with Elmer installed.

Re: errors when running solver

Poosibly, I ran it with just the ElmerSolver command. I have see bugs in ElmerGUI that do not exist in the other programs, not sure why. Setup up your model in ElmerGUI, then go to the directory in a terminal and type ElmerSolver

I was mistaken on the errors your case.sif with your mesh ran fine attached is the solver log
