Re: Relation between “Magnetic Field Strength” and “Magnetic Flux Density” ?

Hello Mika, I've tried again with the most recent Windows Elmer binaries "Version: 9.0 (Rev: Release, Compiled: 2020-12-13)", downloaded from http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/bin/windows/. I still get H=B/(Pi*1E-7), instead of expected H=B/(4*Pi*1E-7). That's puzzling because ...

Re: Relation between “Magnetic Field Strength” and “Magnetic Flux Density” ?

Hello Mika, Thanks for looking into this. I didn't have "Permeability of Vacuum" in my code, so I don't think that's the cause. I've actually done a test now where I set Permeability of Vacuum = Real 1. In the resulting *.vtu I get “Magnetic Flux Density”=(1/4) * “Magnetic Field Strength”,...

Relation between “Magnetic Field Strength” and “Magnetic Flux Density” ?

Hi, When I look at the calculated fields in .vtu files, I find that “Magnetic Flux Density” is essentially “Magnetic Field Strength” times (Pi * 1E-7). This does not look right because B = mu_r*mu_0*H, mu_0= 4*Pi*1E-7 H/m, and my mu_r=1. It appears that “Magnetic Flux Density” has correct values in ...

Re: Permeability GUI setting for Helmholtz Equation module [FIXED]

Hello Peter,

I think there is another similar one in VectorHelmoltz:
The solver expects "Calculate Div of Poynting Vector", whereas GUI writes "Calculate Div Poynting Vector" in .sif ("of" is missing).

Re: Initial guess for iterative solver from "Restart File" - is it possible?

Thanks Peter, I’ve tried that: When 'Exec Solver = Never' for Solver 1, it gives 'SolveLinearSystem: Solution trivially zero!' (both with 'Restart File' and without), and it is zero in the .result file. I've also tested it by replacing field numbers in the 'old' .result file with random numbers - th...

Initial guess for iterative solver from "Restart File" - is it possible?

Hi, Is it possible to provide an initial solution guess to an iterative solver in a steady-state equation? I’ve tried using “Output File” and “Restart File” on VectorHelmholtzWaveguide model. “Output File” is generated and then read in without errors when supplied as “Restart File”, but it seems to ...

Permeability GUI setting for Helmholtz Equation module [FIXED]

Hi, I'm using Vector Helmholtz Equation model. In ElmerGUI, the Material section for this model has the fields "Inverse Relative Permeability" and "Inverse Relative Permeability im". These set the corresponding parameters in the .sif file, but apparently have no effect on the sol...
