Thanks Kevin.
Ive used Salome for the geometry modelling (less complicated than FreeCad in some ways).
May have to look at the meshing.

Good tutorials or refs for advanced meshing
Hello I'm still a beginner with FEM, but I am trying to take harmonic analysis results from Elmer to use with bempp. Currently I have just a planar mesh used with shell or smitc solver, with an internal body for the exciter area onto which I apply a body force, and I learnt 'just enough' about build...

How to output velocity field from shell/plate solver?
Is there an example of having Elmer output the velocity in addition to displacement to a vtu result file when using the smitc or plate solver?
I tried what seemed the obvious thing (calculate velocity = True + result output solver), but got error 'Cannot calculate velocity without previous values'.

Notifications are a standard feature and should just work. Maybe time to upgrade php and phpBB, and check the server settings?

Re: 2D Orthotropic elasticity matrix
Sounds like it wouldnt be too much effort to add the stiffness matrix input to the next version. (Hint, hint )

Re: 2D Orthotropic elasticity matrix
Thanks for the definitive answer, I also looked and only found perforations code, no general stiffness matrix. Manual hints that both are supported though.

Re: 2D Orthotropic elasticity matrix
Hi Kevin
Dissapointing you dont get a result in shell solver.
I believe smitc solver requires a 4x4 matrix, not 6x6.

Re: Frustrations learning Elmer
Hello saekit I think that changing syntax is always going to be a huge headache, so claryfying the documentation in the solver manual is the most important step. A general community wiki could be great, but would still need to be monitored & curated by admins so misinformation is not added and i...

Re: 2D Orthotropic elasticity matrix
Thanks Kevin Yes I know about the 6x6 case, I read the posted solution which I linked to above. That's one reason Im looking at the shell solver, because it takes a 6x6. I even found a direct representation with the inversion already done: Compliance matrix: Capture1.PNG Stiffness matrix: Capture.PN...
