Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
hello again, thanks for the assistance so far. I studied some of the Contact3d... and Mortar3d... test cases available in Github as well as ElmerSolver manual. Based on them I made some simulation runs by modifying the sif file each time. But apparently the results do not seem to be correct. I belie...

Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
Thanks a lot, I was able to select separate boundaries in ElmerGUI after meshing the geo file you sent.
So the correct method is to create physical surfaces on the geometry rather than the mesh.
Next I will try contact analysis from the reference of Github files.

Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
I tried to create the geo file from the stp file I used for creating the mesh (.msh) file in Gmsh. I hope it is helpful.

Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
Yes, I have also observed that ElmerGUI displays only boundary surfaces. But my concern is that, in the above case, all my physical surfaces that I created in Gmsh such as fixed boundary face, load boundary face and contact faces seems to be getting merged in Elmergui. This is making difficult to as...

Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
Thanks for the advice. It was helpful. just curious to know if multi-body (3D) contact analysis is possible in Elmer using ElmerGUI. I was trying to import two 3D models in the same file from Gmsh to ElmerGUI. The file had both necessary volumes and surfaces (physical entities) such as contact faces...

Re: Applying pressure on surfaces
Thanks Kevin
I have tried with normal force equivalent to pressure on the surface (pressure=normal force/surface area). With this option, results are not coming out to be correct. I am trying to find the gap.
Do you know the option of applying pressure directly on surfaces?

Applying pressure on surfaces
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to apply pressure on surfaces in linear elastic model of ElmerGUI?
There is only option for applying pressure on body properties (as body force).

Deactivating automatic mesh while importing geometry
Hi Folks, I am new user of Elmer and struggling in initial phase of using this tool. It would be great if anyone from the community can help me in following issue currently i am facing. As we know that while importing any geometry into Elmer GUI, it starts meshing same with default meshing parameter...
