Re: status of mesh discontinuty approaches (heat gap?)
To add: I noticed the problem I'm trying now has some odd asymmetries that appear when using the heat gap as mentioned above. If I have two materials joined by a heat gap, but there's a body force (heat generation) applied over part of the gap on each side, one side gets hotter than the other. it se...

status of mesh discontinuty approaches (heat gap?)
After some hiatus from using Elmer, I noticed in 8.4 documentation that the keyword Heat Gap is no longer in the Models manual, although it still appears to be handled by the Heat Equation solver. I also noticed the addition of several discontinuity options in the Solvers Manual. I was wondering wha...

Re: Windows build Elmergrid compiled without MATC?
I'm also noticing some other warnings that I don't recall seeing before, even running some of the sample files from Elmer. e.g., looking at a bunch of the grd examples in \Elmer8.4\share\ElmerGUI\samples\grd if I run the wire example with 'elmergrid 1 2 wire' there's an odd message: "Dimension ...

Re: How to install
looking at my windows elmer 8.4 bin folder, elmerpost is thankfully still there. most of what I do uses other programs to read text output, but I still use elmerpost as a quick output viewer.

Windows build Elmergrid compiled without MATC?
I've been away from Elmer for a while, recently reinstalled and tried to run some older scripts. Most were created a few years back with Elmer7 (6?), noticed a few issues trying to run them in Elmer 8.x. Biggest issue at the moment is that seems the windows version of Elmergrid is compiled without M...

Re: ElmerGrid / MATC bug ?
For the windows releases I think that would be a correct assumption.stroop wrote:ok thanks for responding, I guess your version had matc compiled within ElmerGrid already if you didn't receive the error.

Re: ElmerGrid / MATC bug ?
did you use elmergrid to convert the grd file into elmer mesh files? if so, did you get an error that MATC was not compiled? this was 6 years ago so I don't recall exactly. As the first post says, I was getting an My general workflow was to use elmergrid that way, but I don't recall any particular ...

Re: elmersolver 7.0, requires ELMERSOLVER_STARTINFO again?
Hi Perhaps one could make a simple wrapper. For example the following works in Unix echo 'case.sif' >! ELMERSOLVER_STARTINFO ; ElmerSolver and in Windows echo case.sif > ELMERSOLVER_STARTINFO & ElmerSolver Maybe somebody could come up with something prettier... -Peter I think that's about as si...

Re: elmersolver 7.0, requires ELMERSOLVER_STARTINFO again?
Been a while, but I recall trying the command line thing some years ago (windows) and discovering it didn't work, needed the STARTINFO file. Then, with one of the 6.x versions, it worked, and thinking it was an intentional and welcome change I made all of my scripts (often calling parametrically fro...
