Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hi Peter, Thank you for your suggestions. I modified my case.sif file (attached). I continue to get the same numbers for max. joule heating that do not match with the theoretical numbers. I modified the radius (radius = 0.002 m) in the wire.grd file, length stayed the same (0.01 m), and solved for j...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Thanks, Anil. Multiplying the volume with the Elmer joule heating does bring Elmer joule heating close (if not, the same) to theoretical joule heating for the given dimensions. I modified the radius (radius = 0.002 m) in the wire.grd file, length stayed the same (0.01 m), and solved for joule heatin...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hi Peter, Thanks for letting me know. I had a follow up question - What is the relation between length of the wire, radius of the wire and joule heating? I looked for the equation in Elmer Modes Manual (chapter 16) but couldn't find one. Thank you for any information you can provide. Ilaj P.S. My at...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Peter, Thanks for the suggestion. I modified the case.sif file (attached) Scalars Prefix = String "res:" But I continue to get Variables in columns of matrix: ./results.txt 1: max: magnetic flux density e 2: max: joule heating 3: res: eddy current power 4: res: magnetic field energy Is the...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Thanks! I was able to modify the radius of the wire using the .grd file. One follow up question. I am attempting to determine the magnetic field density for a specific electric current density. In the tutorial (mgdyn_steady_wire), for an electric field strength of 5.340 x 10^-4 V m-1, the magnetic f...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Thank you for the suggestions! I am attempting to extract the results to .txt file using Save Scalars. Is there an option within Save Scalars that would deselect the eddy current power and the magnetic field strength? results.txt.names: Elmer version: 8.4 Elmer compilation date: 2020-03-17 Solver in...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Thanks, changing it from True to Logical True worked. Had one follow up question, I am attempting to extract the max. magnetic flux density. I ran my case.sif file. I get eddy current power and magnetic field strength along with max. magnetic flux density. How can I remove eddy current power and mag...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hello, Thank you for sharing the manual. I went through it (chapter 3 in particular),and I do have a better understanding of the .grd file. But I am still not sure how to modify the wire.grd file to change the radius (or the diameter) of the wire. ***** ElmerGrid input file for structured grid gener...
