Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hello, I have been working through the tutorial - Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire (Tutorial 7) and tested the steady state case available in elmerfem-devel/fem/tests/mgdyn_steady_wire2. I had a couple of questions regarding this: 1. How can I change the radius of the wire? Wh...

Re: Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hello, I added the options in the ElmerGUI under field free text, and here's the error I get - ERROR:: Model Input: ERROR:: Model Input: Unknown specifier: [true] ERROR:: Model Input: In section: [equation 1] ERROR:: Model Input: For property name:[linear system symmetric] I am not sure how to proce...

Magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire
Hello, I am attempting to run the tutorial - magnetic field induced by current in a cylindrical wire/steady state. I found the test case in elmerfem-devel/fem/tests/mgdyn_steady_wire2. In the Elmer GUI, I tried loading the project, but it wouldn't load. So, I then attempted to replicate the test cas...

Capacitance of a perforated plate
Hello, Had a couple of questions regarding this tutorial - 1. Is the analytical (or true value) of the plate capacitance 221.36 fF? 2. What is the value of A (area of the capacitor plate)? Relative permittivity = 1 F/m Vaccuum permittivity = 8.854e-12 F/m d (separation between the plates) =1.0 mm Al...

Re: Benchmark problems
Had a follow up question. In the elmerfem-devel/fem/tests folder, there are several test folders. Is there a ReadME file on the Elmer GIthub page or in the Elmer installation folder that lists a brief description of tests. For example, folder name mgdyn_steady_wire: This test case computes the magne...

Re: Vortex Shedding - Cylinder position change
Thank you! Here's what I have attempted in shell - 1. #Create a new folder in Elmer workpsace cd path/to/Elmer/Workspace mkdir VortextShedding_Position 2. #Transfer the revised geometry file from the tutorial folder to the folder created in step 1 cp path/to/Elmer/Tutorial/VortexShedding/circle_in_c...

Rayleigh-Benard instability tutorial
Hello,
Have the results of the Rayleigh-Benard tutorial been verified against a benchmark? If so, which would it be (journal article, etc.)?
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Re: Vortex Shedding - Cylinder position change
That worked! I am trying to execute the same steps (listed below) through a shell script but have had no success so far. Steps to modify the position of the cylinder in a channel 1. Revise the geometry file -- circle_in_channel.in2d 2. Open the revised the geometry in Elmer Gui 3. Save project in a ...

Re: Vortex Shedding - Cylinder position change
I modified the circle_in_channel.in2d file and saved it in the same folder(Vortex Shedding) and then selected the "Load project" option. The position of the cylinder has not changed.
Is there a file in the Vortex Shedding folder that is suppressing this change?

Vortex Shedding - Cylinder position change
Hello, I am looking to change the position of the cylinder in the channel/Vortex Shedding Elmer Tutorial. I modified the circle_in_channel.in2d file (attached). And here's the problem I run into - 1. When I open the circle_in_channel.in2d file, I can see the change in position 2. When I load project...
