issues about preprocessing of data in Elmer/Ice

Post by lusaisai »

Hello everybody ,

I am encountering two issues about the applications of Elmer/Ice when I imitate the Tete Rousse example from the last Elmer/Ice course.

The first one is how to set the length of grid. The region of Tete Rousse is about 550 meters length and 250 meters width, Prof. Gagliardini set the length of the 2D grid is 18 meters, it runs well. But when I change the length of grid to 50 meters and 100 meters, the result also changes (like the attachment). So how to set the length of grid if my region is about 300km*400km.

The second one is about the preprocessing of data. Also in Tete Rousse example, length interval of DEM is about 2-3 meters, length interval of Contour is about 10 meters, it runs fast. But in my 300km*400km region, I set length interval of DEM is about 500 meters, length interval of Contour is about 1000 meters, it runs about 6 hours, so slow. And, when I set a smaller length interval, the software cannot run well. So, is there anything wrong in my preprocessing of data? Or, is there anything else wrong?

I am not familiar with Elmer/Ice, so I am sorry if I overlooked or misunderstood anything.

I will be very appreciated for any help!

Yours,
Saisai
