FDTD method for acoustic analysis

Post by alexbrown »

I understand that the currently acoustic anlaysis in Elmer FEM only supports harmonic analysis but not real transient analysis, is that correct?

Do we have any plans to implement a time domain method for acoustic wave propagation, such as FDTD etc?

A generalized wave equation can be solved in time domain with the module WaveSolver. The module CompressibleNS could be used to model nonlinear wave propagation under the ideal gas law in time domain, but as such it's likely to be inefficient due to employing the monolithic solution approach. Both the solvers are documented in Elmer Models Manual
