compatibility with Paraview

Post by Alain »

Hi everybody,

The postprocessor is built on VTK as well as Paraview.
How to switch to Paraview? Is the file produced by the solver compatible with the file format readable by Paraview?
The .ep extension is not accepted by Paraview.

I'm new to Elmer, it looks great. I tried to load geometries (iges and step) to be meshed by the built-in mesh engine. Well, it works but it is so slow ... Loading a mesh file is by far easier and faster (I use GMESH which is easy to work with and very powerful).

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Alain

Working with Paraview requires an additional solver that outputs VTK/VTU format, see http://www.elmerfem.org/wiki/index.php/ParaView.
The VTK based postprocessor of ElmerGUI uses the Elmer specific .ep format which is probably not known outside Elmer suite.

Hello,

Thanks for the information. I didn't catch that on the wiki. I've not yet read everything ... :-))
I've implemented this short routine in a test .sif file and it works well.
Great.
