cut-view of the 3D results

Post by hamed »

Dear Elmer group
Is it possible to have a cut-view of the 3D results in post processing facilities of Elmer, for example to see the velocity contour inside a 3D channel?

Hello Hamed,

did you try the "object clip planes" (from the Edit menu)?

Hi Peter
Thanks for your kind comment. I tried it but the problem is that only boundary surfaces are displaced in 3D by color mesh as if the body is hollow so that it is not possible to e.g. view the velocity contour inside the 3D channel. Do you have any solution for this problem?

Hi

This should be possible with the combined effect of the following
* ColorMesh -> Surface / Color Variable "Velocity_abs"
* IsoSurface -> Color and Contour Variable "Velocity_abs"
* Edit -> Obecjt Clip Planes (as proposed in the previous answer)¨

A nice way to use IsoSurfaces is often to chose the Contour variable as some of the nodal coordinates. This way you will get clip planes which may be colored by the variable of your choice.

Hi Peter,

I still have difficult to use the clip function. I changed Contour variable as node_x, only got a grid.

Thanks

Maybe you forgot to re-read the EP file in ElmerPost anew with defining all node information to be read - check the appropriate fields in the file read procedure!

Kind regards,

Peter
