Absorbing particles at boundaries

Post by carstenp »

Hi everyone,

I am trying to simulate an electromagnetic particle trap. Is it possible to get particles "stuck" on specific boundaries on purpose? So my goal is to track particles through an electrostatic field and reduce the velocity of particles to zero that hit certain boundaries. I experimented a little and added the keywords

Particle Accumulation = Logical True
Particle Accumulation Max Speed Real = Real 1e9

to the corresponding boundaries but they don't seem to have any effect. Particles with speeds well below the threshold are still elastically reflected from the corresponding boundaries.

Any suggestions or did I misinterpret the accumulation condition?

Thanks!
