Harmonic analysis

Post by sdissem »

Hi,

I made the tutorial 11 "Eigenvalue analysis of an elastic beam" in order to see how the linear elasticity solver works with modal analysis. Then, I tried to use the Harmonic analysis instead of the eigen analysis and I put a frequency close to the first eigenvalue in the tutorial. The problem is that I don't reach the convergence in this case. I may not have made things correctly but I don't know where my mistake is. Here is my sif file, thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Slim

Hi Slim

It may be that the problem is indeed more difficult to solve. After all at resonance a finite load results to infinite amplitude. Perhaps the linear methods are not optimal close to resonance.

Would adding damping make this problem converge more easily?
That way the max amplitude should be discrete, right?
