Viewfactor Computation 3D

Hello everyone,

I have a question related to the computation of Viewfactors for radiation heat transfer. Is the algorithm used by elmer based on the work in http://www.bfrl.nist.gov/IAQanalysis/do ... R-6925.pdf? So is the code of view3D a derivative of the original View3D program (http://view3d.sourceforge.net/)?

If not, what is the basic algorithm for the view factor computation in elmer?

There is no reference to View3D. In fact, in most parts the Elmer code is older.

In axisymmetric the algorithm is based on rather complicated numerical integration and in 2D/3D on ray tracing.
