Elmer for RFIC parasitic extraction?

Post by galloTheLeo »

Hello everybody!

Is it possible to use Elmer's electrostatic and magnetostactic solvers to extract RLCK (resistance, inductance, capacitance and magnetic coupling) parasitics of, say, the connections to a FET? Also, I know it's a bit of a stretch, but does Elmer support any kind of SPICE model generator from the output capacitance and inductance matrices?

I've participated in the 2022 IEEE Chipathon where my team designed a few mm-wave circuits using Google/Skywater 130nm CMOS process and OS toolchain. The main problems we encountered were the lack of support for full-wave EM simulation and inductive parasitic extraction.

Having submitted the designs for the tape-out ad having more time on my hands I resumed trying to assemble a minimally functional OS RFIC toolchain.
Elmer's capabilities caught my attention and here I am :)
