Measuring points displacements (along x,y,z axis)

Post by Aurelck »

Hi,
I am using Elmer in FreeCad. I have a 3d mesh (Gmsh) of an object, and I want to apply a forced displacement on a few nodes, and measure by how much other nodes have subsequently moved. I can measure the total displacement of each node, but I need to know the x,y,z components as well. Is it possible do measure them?
Thanks

Could not find a way to do it in FreeCad but by selecting the results in the pipeline you can go file export and export to a paraview vtk file. In paraview you can use the hover on point and it tells you the coordinates and all of the results at that location.

Ok, well I wanted to do it inside Freecad, to automate it and do it for multiple sets of nodes. But thank you for trying!

Try the FreeCad forum, they may be able to help.
