magnetic field of a moving charge carrier
Assuming I have a cylinder volume in which a sharply localized charger carrier is moving. Say from left to right. How, if possible, can I simulate the magnetic field flux at a certain point roughly over the midpoint of the cylinder and with a certain distance to the cylinder? Can this be done by Elm...

Load ramping to improve convergence
Hey guys, I'm currently struggling with a CFD problem that is a tough nut to crack. However, while combing through some COMSOL blogs, I came across something that is called viscosity ramping / load ramping for non-linear problems like turbulent flow. Now I'm wondering if ELMER is actually capable of...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Peter, I take the xmls from the Elmer-installation as in ..\share\ElmerGUI\edf. So when Elmer is updated, I use the most recent configuration. Where do you get the dimensions from the case? The only information I have found is: Coordinate Mapping(3) = 1 2 3 I could extract "cdim" there if ...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hello Tryphena, the Elmer-plugin for Salome takes its information for the sif-file from the xml-configuration of the solvers. The error that you have reported (see below) is therefore created by an information in the xml-file that the solver later does not understand. The information is NOT inserted...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Can you post/attach your sif-file? Maybe also your mesh-file? Then I can try to run it on my own system. The Elmer-plugin for Salome does nothing else as calling the elmersolver.exe and providing the sif-file as argument. So, if Elmer produces an error, it might be related to the sif-file itself. Ch...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Btw, do you know how Elmer calculate resistance? For example, if I have objects with two terminals of voltage 1, and two terminals of voltage 0. I calculate the current in the static current solver. The solver returns the resistance. How is it calculated by one of the terminals or both? Do you have...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
ParseError: not well-formed (invalid token): line 310, column 142] OK, I've found the issue. The error message actually gives you the info where the problem occurs. It's in the xml-files for 'linearelasticity' and 'nonlinearelasticity'. In the description of the Youngs modulus is a bad character. F...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
I`ve just updated the source code to Elmer 9 and Salome 9 with Python 3. Sorry, for the inconvenience to reinstall Salome 9
I think your problem comes from the xml files themselves and has nothing to do with the plugin. I am currently looking into that.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Which solvers do you need? I will check if there is something missing in the code of the plug-in.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
The plugin was written for the previous Salome versionx 8.x. These used Python 2.7. With Salome 9.x they switched to Python 3 and the code would need an update. For example the parenthesis after the print statement. I also don't know, if Salome 9 still uses the smesh module or if it has been replace...
