Re: heat flux: power or power density

It is the latter, i.e. W/m^2 if using SI-units.

Re: fluid structure interaction

Yes, Elmer has FSI with moving mesh i.e. ALE formulation. Applications that have been solved include arterial flow simulations which is notiriously difficult due to the tight coupling between fluid and structure.

Re: ElmerGrid Gmsh import bug?

I tried the test case and for me it seemed ok. The body number was 1 and boundary numbering [1,4]. No error message appeared so I hope the problems are in the history.

Re: ElmerGrid Gmsh import bug?

By default the numbering of entities in .msh files should be saved only for the physical entities. If no physical entities are defined then the geometric entities are used and they should be renumbered by default as they otherwise would often be in range of thousands. The "2" is number of ...

Re: axisymmetric boundary condition

This is a possible feature request though: it would be convenient if Elmer had an axis or symmetry boundary condition setting all of the normal fluxes, normal velocity, normal E and B field components, to zero. This could indeed be implemented. Limiting to cases where x=0 is the symmetry axis would...

Re: periodic BC and moving mesh

Hi Martina The phase change solver is not periodic, I think, and will give you sligtly different values for the displacements of the corner nodes for the free surface? Maybe these wont mix well with the periodic BCs of the MeshUpdate solver. They should, but that's the only thing I can think of. You...

Re: Introducing variable BC

There is no complete list of variables. MATC itself does not have any knowledge of any variables. In the expression 'tx' always refers to the field variable that is given by the 'Variable' statement. I.e. here tx is the y-coordinate. You can have an expression with several variables separated by com...

Re: import new mesh in existing project

If you haven't made any changes (join or division) to the mesh you could perhaps use the ElmerGrid from command line directly to make the new mesh: ElmerGrid 14 2 mesh.msh -out meshdir using the same options as you did under GUI and you should have a compatible mesh. ElmerGUI saves by default the me...

Re: Introducing variable BC

Hi Ahmed, Copy pasting your exact lines I've no problems (rev. 4204). Maybe your ElmerSolver library is not quite up-to-date. The semicolon as a separator was introduces alongside with ElmerGUI. Hence, you could try using line feed as a separator. Velocity 1 = Variable "Coordinate 2" Real ...
