Thank you!
That was a good starting point and very helpful.
Is there something like a database or a catalogue for damping parameters? Or do I always have to estimate those myself?

Damping parameter in elasticSolve
Hi all, after quite some search and trial-and-error I got a transient simulation using elasticSolve to finally work. However, to do so, I have to ramp up the Damping for the material definition quite severely: Material 1 Name = "Material 1" Youngs modulus = 5e6 Density = 938 Poisson ratio ...

Re: Mesh deformation resulting in intersecting boundaries
Thanks! It seems that this works quite a bit better when running with a nonlinear / plastic material model. @kevinarden: your UMAT library works pretty well, here :) However, also revisiting the time step helped quite a lot -- the case is significantly more stable with a larger time step, even when ...

Mesh deformation resulting in intersecting boundaries
Hi all, I have the following rather weird behavior: I set up a simulation with a rather thin and soft material. When solving for the deformation, I see the upper wall protruding through the lower one, which seems a bit weird, physically ;) : protruding_walls.png I cast this into a very simple and re...

Re: UNV mesh conversion from Salome using ElmerGrid
You are absolutely right. I mistakenly created a 2D mesh. With a 3D mesh everything works as expected.
Thanks for spotting this!

UNV mesh conversion from Salome using ElmerGrid
I try to build a very simple test case using the provided mesh. The unv is created using salome. After conversion using ElmerGrid bz the command ElmerGrid 8 2 data/Box_scaled.unv -autoclean I do not get one body with six boundaries as expected. But instead six bodies with one boundary which does onl...
