Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
The fallacy of this approach is that it changes Young's Modulus for the whole model. Where in a general material plasticity case, only the elements being stressed over yield start seeing plasticity. I was able to get good results with this approach by making a uni-axial model where all of the elemen...

Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
Thanks mika,
I assumed the output variables that I post process was the same as the calculation variables. I will try "Principal Strain 1", since my tensile test is in the x-direction.

Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
Although you can enter Young's Modulus as a variable it does not arrive at the correct solution for plastic deformation. I compared results to actual uniaxial tensile test. Both ABAQUS and Calculix produced correct results using the model. Elmer produced correct results using a constant Young's Modu...

Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
This definitely affected the results, have not worked with it enough yet to determine if it affected the results correctly Material 1 Name = "Austenitic stainless steel (AK Steel 201)" Poisson ratio = 0.3 Youngs modulus = Variable "Principal Strain" Real 0.0 197.0e9 0.012 197.0e9...

Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
All 3 of these give the same answer, a constant youngs modulus of 197.0E9. I would expect the last two to be constant. Material 1 Name = "Austenitic stainless steel (AK Steel 201)" Poisson ratio = 0.3 Youngs modulus = Variable "Principal Strain", "vonMises" Real MATC &q...

Re: adding youngs modulus as a function of stress
How do I know what the variable names in ElasticSolve are such as the various stresses and strains?

older compilers only issued a warning for that condition my gcc is version 7.3
Also there is a CAELINUX iso that can be run in a VM or livecd, it has elmer and many other fea tools

Re: make problems
I had this a few releases ago. Just delete the scripts/kconfig/qconf.moc file (or rename if if you want to keep a backup). The make xconfig script then generates a new one that is compatible

Re: Elmer installation in Lubuntu 18.10 by ''apt-get install''
I load this operating system in a virtual machine and tried the install, this system is using apt-secure and since there is no release file in the repository it is disabled by default, you can by pass the disable on apt-get by using the option Pass the --allow-unauthenticated option to apt-get as in...

Which compiler are you using for FORTRAN?
