Accuracy of Electrostatic Solver for E-field

Post by howardxu »

Hi,

I noticed that the electrostatic solver does not return an accurate solution for micro scale calculations.

The setup of my geometry is that a cylindrical container with a 25micro (12.5 um in radius) anode wire in the center. The numerical calculation seems to fit my analytic calculation pretty well but the center of the container.
Is it the natural behavior of FEM in general or, there is something more I can do to optimize my simulation?

I am new to FEM, and I wish some one can guide me with few pieces of advices.

Thank you,
Haiwen

In FEM, increased mesh density (more nodal points) and or the use of higher order elements, increase accuracy.

Hi,

Posting a minimum working example (MWE), would be very helpful. That will answer questions such as how did you mesh your geometry and what boundary conditions did you apply.
