how to get area of a boundary node

Post by Daniela »

Hello there,

I'm not sure how I can get the area of a boundary node (in 2D that's the length of the boundary node, and in 3D the area).

For 2D I can actually calculate it outside of Elmer by using neighbor nodes, but for 3D I need to calculate the area in a user defined routine on each node of my boundary. But how exactly do I do that?

Or is there a built in routine that does that already and I didn't find it?

I would appreciate any help,

Daniela
